CHALLENGES AHEAD
The training and employment of BPL Beneficiaries poses a few challenges inherent to the life style they are used to. Some of the challenges are elaborated as below :
- 1. The BPL children are helping hands to the families and hence they drop out from the
classes.
-
-
2. Due drop-outs, the academic competencies majority of BPL masses are poor.
-
3. The BPL children have been devoid of any benefits from the government initiatives,
hence may find it difficult to believe in the concept of employment. They normally feel
comfortable with the jobs they are carrying out.
-
4. Change of attitude will be a major challenge while training of the BPL beneficiaries and
will require special training of trainers in order to train them and make them
employable.
-
5. The retention of the BPL beneficiaries through out the program (trade selected by them)
will be yet another challenge and can be handled with managed persuasion and
adopting pragmatic view towards the whole training and least affecting their daily
chores.
-
6. Continuation in the job may be another challenge as it may involve relocation of the
beneficiaries. It will call for concerted efforts to arrange for the jobs nearest to their
families.
-
7. It will require assistance from other government run projects that assist BPL households
in earning their livelihood so that they can spare their children for training. This
challenge can be taken care of by careful planning of the training sessions which does
not clash with their time for earning their livelihood.
-
8. Verification of BPL beneficiaries may be another challenge as fraudulent candidates
may also try to get the benefits of the programs. This can be handled with the close
coordination with the concerned DRDAs and a strong system of verification put in place
to ensure enrollment of only the right candidate.
